National Random Acts of Kindness Day:
Yesterday, one of the 3rd graders came to the library at the end of the day and gave a handmade envelope full of bookmarks that she had made. Some were colored, some had words written on them, some were laminated, and they came in all different sizes. It was such a fun surprise and I appreciated the hard work and thought she put into each of them. A true ACT OF KINDNESS!

Kindness Inspires Kindness!
Aubrey and Jason Kemerling were inspired by this campaign to create a brand new scholarship called "Carroll Kindness Scholarship" for the amount of $1,000 awarded to a CHS Senior nominated by peers and CCSD staff.
Description: A Character of Kindness is practiced daily. It is not a practice of perfection, but a practice of authenticity and care. It is a character of leading by example, of showing empathy and compassion, of standing up for what is right and good when doing that is hard. Kindness is shown in transparency of one's own faults, of support in difficult times, of intentional smiles, and through random acts of generosity.
2023 is the first in what will be an annual scholarship that goes to one senior in the CCSD, who, regardless of income need, athletic ability, academic talent, or artistic giftedness, exemplifies what it means to be kind. This is an award given based on nomination, from individuals with first-hand experience and belief in someone who consistently demonstrates kindness to all.
A Character of Kindness is contagious. It is needed, arguably now more than ever. Its impact is far more reaching than can be measured and we want to say "Thank You" to those who practice it intentionally.

National Random Acts of Kindness Day:
Kindergarten class spent part of our afternoon writing thank you notes to the parent volunteers we had in our room for the Valentine's Day party.

🧡🖤There was a canon that was shooting pumpkins off on our field trip, and she noticed that another friend was uncomfortable with the noise and was not liking it. She went over and helped put her hands over top of his ears so it was not as loud.
